About the Animal Science Monitor

The Animal Science Monitor is a newsletter for professionals and students in the animal science and nutrition industry. After attending a conference, Dan Simmons was inspired to create the Animal Science Monitor. Dan sent out the newsletter’s first edition in 2003.

The Animal Science newsletter serves as the official publication of Continental Search, the leading recruiting firm in the animal sciences. It publishes once a month and features industry news for swine, poultry, pork, equine, and dairy. Additionally, every issue contains job opportunities, humor, must-read eBooks, and recent industry survey results.

Dan Simmons, CPC, is the founder and president of Animal Science Monitor and premier recruiting firm, Continental Search. He started his career in 1991 and focused on recruiting for animal agriculture in 2002. Dan has since filled roles in over 100 companies across the US and Canada.

Jim Hipskin

Division Manager

With over 30 years of experience in recruiting for manufacturing, production, processing, and sales roles, Jim Hipskind brings a wealth of expertise to Continental Search. Joining our team in 2010, Jim previously worked for Midwest Headhunters, where he successfully recruited manufacturing managers and engineers throughout the Midwest. His extensive background in placing supervisors, managers, and executives in various manufacturing settings gives him a unique perspective and deep understanding of what it takes to excel in these positions.

Rick Pascual, CPC

Practice Director

Rick Pascual, CPC, is the practice director for Ruminant Health and Nutrition at Continental Search. He manages all dairy and beef research and recruiting. Rick joined the firm in 2015, where he began as a Talent Scout and quickly advanced to dairy recruitment after showing promising talent.

Practice Director

Trish Valenzuela, CPC, is the practice director for Monogastric Health and Nutrition at Continental Search. She handles recruitment and related projects in swine and poultry health and nutrition. Trish has been with the firm for over seven years. A former flight attendant, Trish also has a degree in Marketing.

Cris Soronio

Recruiter

Cris Soronio leads the firm's recruitment efforts for Swine and Poultry Live Production. She has the latest opportunities for swine farm managers, nutritionists, geneticists, and veterinarians. Cris first joined Continental Search as a Talent Scout. Her impressive interpersonal skills earned her promotion to a Juior Recruiter, then to finally leading the swine and poultry desk.
