Each year at Continental Search (the publisher of the Animal Science Monitor), we survey animal nutritionists and veterinarians to see if they’re happy in their jobs and are still making money. Don’t worry. They are still making money! In fact, they’re making more than ever. We’ll increase the top end of our salary range next year to reflect this

• 56% are open to a new career opportunity
• 8% are actively looking for a new job
• Solo contributors in R & D can earn up to $190K
• Nearly 1/3 of those considering a new job want 30% more than they’re earning now
• Most managers in sales or tech support earn over $220K
• 25% of technical consultants in animal health or nutrition earn $200K or more
• Incentive pay can significantly alter total compensation. Many earn more than 25% of base

Some things that stood out

• 50% of the tech support pros in the swine industry are open to a new job
• Tech/Sales Support Managers in poultry health OR nutrition earn $220K+
• While compensation for tech pros in beef lags the other species, it’s still competitive.
• 23% of tech/sales support pros in dairy health/nutrition earn $220K+ with/without direct reports
